特色英語課程 提升多元素養

ESL課程是我校自2000年起開設的英語特色外教口語課程，旨在為學生提供多元化的英語學習環境和英語交流機會。

今年的ESL課程依然由經驗豐富的外教Allan老師向高一年級學生進行教授。第一學期的授課主題從文化入手，讓學生通過中西方節日、不同國家的大學生活、境內外的旅行等不同方面更好地認識世界，以了解西方文化為基礎提高英語聽說能力，并建立英語表達的自信心。第二學期的主題為科技，每周的課程分為不同的話題，例如太空旅行、人工智能、交通、環境、5G、智能農業、醫療等不同領域的科技內容，讓學生在學習知識的同時切實提高英語交流能力。更重要的是，用心設置的課程主題和內容讓學生體驗了探索帶來的樂趣，也提高了英語學習的興趣。

由于疫情的緣故，第二學期的ESL課程通過網上授課的方式進行，即便如此，教師和學生們還是表現出了極強的責任心和積極性。為了展示ESL課程的學習成果，學生們克服了線上教學的不便和溝通交流的局限，自行推選代表積極準備了一份別出心裁的成果展示。在這5分多鐘的視頻中，學生們跨越了班級的界限，展現了語言的美好，表達了自信的魅力。

高一（3）班 尤嘉欣 Jenny

In the first year of high school, I was fortunate to attend ESL classes, from which I learned  new knowledge and improved my oral English. I can't forget the first class when l stood on the platform and tried to introduce myself in English for the very first time. It not only gave me a chance to show myself, but also let me learn to be confident. Through the learning of this year, I have learned about different festivals, customs and cultures of many countries. I also learned about the development of modern technology. Moreover, by interacting with the foreign teacher and answering questions in English, my oral English has also made some progress. I hope to have the opportunity to learn this kind of lesson more in the coming semesters.

My interest of English learning is cultivated in the ESL class. The relaxing in-class atmosphere enables me to speak English confidently. The different topics prepared by teacher Allan for every lesson provides me with new knowledge that I can't learn in other English classes. In just one academic year, the ESL lesson has increased my interest in learning English, and improved my oral English level. Also, it made me no longer afraid of speaking English in public. Finally, I would like to thank teacher Allan for his careful preparation and teaching. I am very happy to participate in this lesson!

After nearly a whole year of learning English from foreign teacher Allan, I have learned a lot of knowledge in different fields, such as a series of interesting theme blocks on tourist attractions, customs, future science and technology development in various countries. By listening to the teacher and answering questions, my English listening and speaking ability has improved a lot. The homework assigned by the teacher each time is closely related to the content of the class, which is not only conducive to our review and preview, but also useful to improve my English writing ability.
